Transfer Application, Pressing Instructions & Disclaimer

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING OR APPLYING YOUR TRANSFERS

At Motivate Transfers, we want you to get the best possible results from every transfer you purchase. Proper equipment, temperature, pressure, pressing time, and peeling method are essential for successful application.

Because heat presses, garments, and application methods can vary, customers are responsible for following the instructions provided for the specific transfer purchased.

We strongly recommend reading these instructions completely before pressing your transfer.

COMMERCIAL HEAT PRESS REQUIRED

All Screen Print and DTF transfers sold by Motivate Transfers must be applied using a commercial-style heat press capable of providing consistent, heavy pressure.

Do NOT use:

  • Household irons
  • Cricut EasyPress
  • Portable presses
  • Mini presses
  • Handheld heat presses

These devices may reach the correct temperature but may not provide the consistent pressure required for proper adhesion.

Failure to use the recommended equipment may result in transfers that do not adhere, lift, crack, peel incorrectly, or become damaged.

Motivate Transfers is not responsible for application issues caused by the use of improper pressing equipment.

SCREEN PRINT TRANSFER INSTRUCTIONS

Our screen print transfers require heavy, even pressure and must be peeled according to the instructions below.

Pressing Instructions

Temperature: 350°F
Press Time: 20 seconds
Pressure: HEAVY
Peel: HOT PEEL

After pressing, peel the transfer according to the instructions while it is hot.

Repress

After removing the transfer sheet, repress the garment for approximately 5–10 seconds.

A finishing sheet or appropriate protective sheet may be placed over the design during the repress.

IMPORTANT

Do not place the transfer or design over:

  • Thick seams
  • Collars
  • Zippers
  • Pockets
  • Buttons
  • Uneven areas of the garment

These areas can prevent the heat press from providing even pressure across the entire transfer.

Uneven pressure is one of the most common causes of transfer application failure.

DTF TRANSFER INSTRUCTIONS

DTF transfers have different application and peeling requirements than our screen print transfers.

Pressing Instructions

Temperature: 330°F
Press Time: 20 seconds
Pressure: HEAVY
Peel: COLD PEEL

Allow the transfer to cool completely before peeling.

Do not attempt to peel the transfer while it is still warm.

Repress

After peeling, repress the design for approximately 10 seconds using the appropriate protective sheet.

NEW TO SCREEN PRINT OR DTF TRANSFERS?

If you are new to applying transfers, we strongly recommend purchasing 1–2 additional transfers for practice.

Every heat press can perform slightly differently, even when the temperature displayed on the machine appears correct.

Practicing allows you to become familiar with:

  • Your heat press
  • Pressure settings
  • Temperature
  • Garment type
  • Transfer placement
  • Proper peeling technique

We recommend testing your press and application method before using your final garment or completing a customer order.

TEMPERATURE & PRESSURE

The temperature displayed on your heat press may not always reflect the actual temperature of the heating platen.

Customers are responsible for ensuring their equipment is functioning and heating properly.

If your transfer does not adhere correctly, possible causes may include:

  • Insufficient pressure
  • Uneven pressure
  • Incorrect temperature
  • Inaccurate heat press temperature
  • Incorrect pressing time
  • Peeling too early
  • Peeling too late
  • Using the incorrect peel method
  • Pressing over seams or uneven areas
  • Using equipment that cannot provide adequate pressure

A transfer that does not apply correctly due to one of these circumstances does not automatically indicate a defective transfer.

APPLICATION RESPONSIBILITY

Motivate Transfers provides pressing instructions for our products; however, the final application process is completed by the customer and is outside of our control.

By purchasing and applying our transfers, the customer accepts responsibility for:

  • Using the proper heat press
  • Following the correct temperature
  • Applying adequate pressure
  • Following the recommended pressing time
  • Following the correct peeling method
  • Proper transfer placement
  • Testing equipment when necessary
  • Selecting an appropriate garment/material for application

Motivate Transfers is not responsible for transfers damaged or unsuccessfully applied due to incorrect pressing, peeling, temperature, pressure, equipment, garment placement, or failure to follow the provided application instructions.

Application errors are not considered manufacturing defects.

BEFORE PRESSING YOUR ORDER

Please inspect your transfers before applying them to a garment.

If you believe you received an incorrect or defective transfer, do not press the transfer.

Contact Motivate Transfers with clear photos of the transfer and your order information so the issue can be reviewed.

Once a transfer has been pressed, issues resulting from application technique, equipment, temperature, pressure, or peeling cannot be treated as a product defect without evidence that the transfer itself was defective.

GARMENT RESPONSIBILITY

Motivate Transfers is not responsible for damage to garments or other items used during the transfer application process.

We recommend testing when working with:

  • Expensive garments
  • Specialty fabrics
  • Sensitive materials
  • New garment brands
  • Materials you have not previously heat pressed

Always verify that the garment itself can safely withstand the required application temperature.

DIFFERENT TRANSFERS REQUIRE DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONS

Please do not assume that every transfer applies the same way.

Screen Print Transfers and DTF Transfers have different pressing and peeling requirements.

Always follow the instructions provided by Motivate Transfers for the specific product you purchased, even if you have previously purchased transfers from another vendor.

Pressing instructions from another supplier may not apply to products purchased from Motivate Transfers.

ORDER ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By completing your purchase with Motivate Transfers, you acknowledge that:

You are responsible for reviewing and following the application and pressing instructions provided for your purchased transfers.

You also acknowledge that successful application requires proper equipment, temperature, pressure, pressing time, and peeling technique.

Motivate Transfers cannot guarantee results when the provided instructions are not followed or when inappropriate equipment is used.

NEED HELP BEFORE YOU PRESS?

If you are unsure about the instructions for your transfer, please contact us before pressing it.

We would much rather help answer an application question beforehand than have you lose a transfer or garment because of an incorrect pressing method.

Please review all pressing instructions carefully before application.
